Funk Parade May Not Take Place This Year (UPDATE)

Funk Parade

UPDATE: You can now help contribute to the cause here.

Some bad news for D.C. culture: Funk Parade has announced that it probably won’t be taking place in 2018 due to huge growth and the lack of funding/city space to match. The announcement goes into detail how the organizers — Justin Rood and Chris Naoum — worked to make things happen, even in the days leading up to this week’s kickoff.

You can read the message in full below (from their Facebook page), as well as last year’s recap from Joel Lawson…as one person who commented stated: “When the funk dies, D.C. dies.”
