The time has finally arrived, and the first annual DC Funk Parade is going down this Saturday! But that’s not all, we’re getting it in tonight at the official block party kick off event.
This eve’s ringing in of the revelries is happening at the African American Civil War Museum, and is brought to you by Raise Your City, ONE DC and, yours truly, One Love Massive.
We’ve got a huge bash in store both inside and outside of the building. Out in the street we’ll have live music going strong with Black Masala, Sir Joe Quarterman, and a Jahsonic DJ set. If that weren’t enough, inside there’s all sorts of engaging enticements such as a piece from the “The Power of Soul” documentary extolling the worldwide impact of James Brown and his music, a preview of the “Black Broadway on U TransMedia Project”, and a stellar AV pannel: The Evolution of DC Music: Jazz, Soul, Funk and Go-Go Historians & Storytellers. Finally, don’t forget: there will also be food trucks and a cache of DC Brau on hand.
Bonus? The One Love Bus will be on hand to give you a chance to flex your creative mind.
