“BLACK ROCK FRIDAY” features AFRICAN-AMERICANS IN INDIE-GROUND ROCK

November 24th is BLACK ROCK FRIDAY! MightyHip.com and the Greater District Sound Club are turning a day of consumerism into a celebration of African-American hard rock music in the nation’s capital. Four DMV acts will gather at the Passenger DC (1539 7th St. NW) for a live showcase, and the entire Black Rock Nation can tune in to the concert via Facebook LIVE.

Conceived by Chocolate City rocker “rex,” and hosted by the Kennedy Center’s Ariel Shelton, the show will also feature short sets by Jenny Hates Techno, A Little Disorganized, and The Wingers, as well as interviews with the artists and maybe a few surprises.

The show is free, but will accept donations ($5.00 suggested). Afropunk fans, Alternative Black Kids, and anyone with a heart for punk, metal, alternative, or otherwise should like the Facebook page @joyofrex (www.fb.com/joyofrex), where the showcase will be livestreamed on Black Friday, November 24th at 7:30pm!

MightyHip.com is the DMV’s premiere collective of multi-genre artists, brought together by monthly showcases and concerts, as well as the MightyHip app, where fans can vote for their favorite “Mighty Minute” of uploaded music or poetry. The Greater District Sound Club is a concert promotion in the district, working towards a venue for local Washington DC acts.
