AKM Making Waves in the Glassblowing World…. Featured in RVA Magazine

About twelve years ago, I sat in my best friend’s room watching in amazement as he tried to fashion some sort of pipe out of a glass cigar tube using only a handheld propane torch and a coat hanger.  I was far from confident and I was sure he was going to burn the house down.  Good news is…. he didn’t torch his parents’ house nor did he create anything functional, instead he ended up with nothing more than a melted glob of glass.

Things have certainly changed.  Since that day Andrew has long graduated from VCU with an Arts degree specializing in glass.  He has gained national recognition for his innovative style and technique, blurring the lines between pipe making and fine art.  He has been featured in trade shows throughout the country and his glass can be found all over the states far from his studio in Richmond, Virginia.

Andrew works with some of Richmond’s finest, a collective known as “Influence Glass”.  Together they create masterpieces out of glass, collaborating and feeding off each other’s creativity.

This week RVA Magazine’s newest edition features an article on AKM.  We invite you to check out the interview and learn a little more about a friend we couldn’t be more proud of.  Please check them out and join their fan page on facebook:
